About Kind Cove

Kind Cove is a children’s story, play and everyday-support app published by Shari Nelson under the name Kind Cove. This policy describes the first-release app and our parent support correspondence. For questions, email admin@kindcove.org.

The app does not require an online account, operate a cloud-sync service, display advertising, or include third-party analytics. Its postcards go to fictional characters; it does not provide messaging between users or public profiles.

Information on the device

Kind Cove uses local storage to remember the current harbor and support its activities. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

  • A harbor nickname, language, interests, sound, display and accessibility preferences.
  • Favorites, story bookmarks, activity plans, routine progress, and selected feelings or support choices.
  • Creations, typed activity responses, postcard text, decorations and collected items.
  • Optional photos, labels, routines, communication phrases and comfort choices added by a grown-up.
  • Activity and break totals, if a grown-up enables them. These totals do not record typed Talk messages.

The app uses this information to display your choices, personalize activities and resume saved work. Kind Cove does not upload these local records to its servers or provide remote access to them. Other people who can use the same device may be able to view its saved information.

Pictures & spoken words

A grown-up may select pictures from the device for routines and communication tools. The app processes and stores the selected pictures locally. It does not operate a photo-upload service or record from the camera or microphone.

Read-aloud features use installed voices identified by the device as local. The app does not fall back to an online voice. If a suitable local voice is unavailable, the text and pictures remain available. Kind Cove does not record the child’s voice.

The app does not request access to location, contacts or an advertising identifier.

Parent support emails

Grown-ups can contact admin@kindcove.org for support, feedback, suggestions or privacy requests. The app’s feedback links open your email application with our address and a fixed subject. They do not attach saved harbor information, photos, activity records or typed messages.

If you choose to send an email, we receive your email address, any sender name shown by your email service, your message, and any attachments you add. We use this correspondence to respond, resolve problems, consider suggestions and handle privacy requests. We do not use support messages for advertising or sell them.

Please contact us as an adult and include only the information needed for your request. You do not need to send a child’s full name, photograph, school or diagnosis.

Sharing & service providers

We do not sell personal information or share it for behavioral advertising. Local app records are not sent to advertisers, analytics services, other users or Kind Cove.

Email service providers process messages to deliver and store support correspondence. Website hosting providers process requests to deliver and protect this policy page. We may disclose correspondence if required by law or necessary to respond to a lawful request or protect against misuse.

If you independently send an exported file, use a device backup service, or contact us through your email app, the services you choose handle that information under their own privacy practices. Google Play processes app purchases under its own policies; Kind Cove does not receive your payment-card details through the app.

Keeping & deleting data

Local harbor information remains until you remove it or clear the app’s stored data. In For grown-ups → Harbors on this device, you can export or delete the current harbor. Deleting one harbor keeps other harbors and the device’s grown-up PIN. Clearing the app’s storage removes its local information. For a browser version, clear that website’s stored data. This does not remove copies held in previously exported files or device backups; manage those separately.

An export can contain the harbor’s saved pictures and personal words. Kind Cove cannot recover deleted local records for you.

We keep support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, resolve the request and meet applicable legal obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion of information you have emailed us by writing to admin@kindcove.org. If we must retain information for a legal reason, we will explain that when responding.

Security & adult controls

Kind Cove limits the information it transmits and uses the device’s local storage for saved app records. Adult settings are protected by a grown-up question or an optional locally stored PIN verifier. This gate helps control access within the app; it does not encrypt saved records or exported files.

Protect the device with its own passcode and keep exports in a location you trust. Our policy webpage uses HTTPS. Support emails travel through the email providers you and Kind Cove use; the app does not provide an encrypted support-message service.

Children’s privacy

Kind Cove is designed for children, including children under 13, with grown-up controls and optional caregiver involvement. Children can use the app without supplying personal information to Kind Cove online. We do not ask children to create an online account or send us personal details.

If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us, contact admin@kindcove.org so we can review the message and arrange deletion where appropriate. Parents can manage locally saved information using the controls described above.

This privacy website

This page has no advertising, analytics scripts or feedback form. Hosting services process standard connection information, such as an IP address, browser information, requested page and request time, to deliver the webpage and help maintain its security. Visiting this website does not give us access to a child’s saved app records.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our data practices change and show the revised date above. If a future version adds accounts, cloud services, analytics or other data transfers, its privacy disclosures and any required choices will be updated before those features are introduced.
